Aurangabad is the base camp for two world heritage sites: Ajanta, Ellora

Ajanta Caves

  • Distance: 106 km from Aurangabad (2 Hours)
  • Entry ticket:
    1) Admission ticket: Rs. 40.00 per head
    For citizens of India, visitors of “SAARC” (Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka, Pakistan, Maldives & Afghanistan) And “BIMSTEC” Countries (Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka, Thiland & Myanmar) visitors
    2) For other foreign nationals: Rs. 600.00 Per head
    (Note: Children of the age 15 below are free)
    3) Light ticket: Rs. 05.00
    (01 to 20 persons)
    4) Video camera ticket: Rs. 25.00
    (For exterior use only)
    – Use of camera stand is prohibited in cave premises
  • Timing: 9:30 am to 5 pm. (Closed on Mondays)

Note: You have to park your vehicle at the Parking. The parking is 4 km away from the caves. You have to pay parking charges as per the vehicle type. You have to pay Amenity charges Rs 20/- per head. Children below the age 15 are free. Then you have to take a bus from Parking to the caves. There are AC and Non AC buses. Per head charge for the AC bus is Rs 20/-(one way) and that of Non AC bus is Rs 15/-(one way)

  • Entry ticket:
    1) Admission ticket: Rs. 40.00 per head
    For citizens of India, visitors of “SAARC” (Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka, Pakistan, Maldives & Afghanistan) And “BIMSTEC” Countries (Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka, Thiland & Myanmar) visitors
    2) For other foreign nationals: Rs. 600.00 Per head
    (No entry fees for visitors who are below 15 years of age)
    3) Video camera ticket: Rs. 25.00
    (For exterior use only)
    – Use of camera stand is prohibited in cave premises
  • Timing: Open to visitors from sunrise to sunset. (Closed on Tuesday)

Note: –

  1. The parking of Ellora caves just infront of the main gate. The parking is maintained by MTDC. One has to park the vehicle in the parking and walk from there to the caves.
  2. Jain caves (Cave no 30 to 34) are 1 km away from cave no 16 towards North. A bus operates from Cave no 16 to Cave no 32 every 20 mins or every 15 mins depending upon crowd. The return ticket for the bus is Rs 20/- per person.

These caves are 80 km away from Aurangabad. These caves are contemporary to Ajanta Caves. There is no Entry fee to the caves but to enter into preserved forest one has to pay nominal charges.

There are 13 rock cut caves to the north side of the city. They are 3 km away from Bibi-ka-Maqbara.

This Mausoleum was built in the memory of Rubia Durrani. She was the wife of last Moghul Emperor Aurangazeb. This is open for visitors from sunrise to 8 pm.

This is a water mill which works on the turbine principle. This was made in 1744. This is very near to Bibi ka Maqbara.

This is the tomb of the last Moghul Emperor Aurangazeb. This is at Khuldabad (a small village en-route Ellora Caves). Entrance to the tomb is free. This is open for visitors from sunrise to sunset.

This beautiful temple is built in Hemad-panthi style of Architecture. This is situated at Anwa village. This is 90 km from Aurangabad. This village is 15 km away from

Abad – Ajanta main road. Entrance is free. This is open for visitors from sunrise to sunset.

This fort is 75 km from Aurangabad. There is no Entrance ticket to this fort. The location of this fort is in the forest. This fort is on a cliff of the mountain so one can enter into the fort from one side only. With beautiful views/scene this fort is worth visiting.

Ashram of Avtar Meher Baba is at Ahmadnagar. One can stay in the Ashram with the prior permission. To get the accommodation in the ashram one has to send them email. Detail information is available on their website. This Ashram is 110 km from Aurangabad. There is the Samadhi of Meher Baba which can be visited without prior permission.

This crater was formed out of the impact the meteorite about 50 thousand years ago. This is 150 km from Aurangabad. It takes a little more than 3 hours to get there. MTDC accommodation is available at the crater.

Battle field

Asai Battle field: The war between Maratha power and British took place here in 1803 AD. Asai is 80 km from Aurangabad near Jafrabad.
